Chances are, when you were fifteen years old, you were making questionable choices about skincare. Ladies, this was likely the peak of your St. Ives Apricot Scrub phase, which means you may have exfoliated yourself into an early grave. Gents, meanwhile, you were probably chemical burning your faces with acidic Stridex pads. Whatever you were doing, you were doing something, unlike Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown.

Like any good rising star, Brown is expanding her brand with a celebrity beauty line. Florence by Mills is a vegan beauty brand targeted at members of Gen-Z. In a YouTube video promoting the brand, Brown walks viewers through her nighttime skincare routine, and that’s where the absurdity starts. The Internet™ was confused and bemused when Brown appeared to apply nothing, absolutely nothing to her face, except for an ill-timed spritz of face mist (what kind of deranged person applies face mist first?).

Then, Brown “applies” a makeup-removing scrub, but her hands and face are bone dry. The same goes for an ensuing face wash and moisturizer. Adding to the weirdness, Brown is clearly wearing make-up, judging by the eyeliner and mascara she sports, even after a quick cut during which she purportedly washed off. Mashable points out how Brown is the latest in a long, distinguished line of celebrities to try to pull the no-makeup wool over our eyes, including Kylie Jenner and Shay Mitchell.

Twitter, expectedly, did its thing, too.

One Twitter user goes so far as to spotlight another promotional video in which Brown seems to be pulling the same con, judging by the sound of her bare hands rubbing her bare face. Note how, in both videos, Brown obscures her hands from the camera when it comes time for the money shot of the product going into her hands. With her fingers blocking the tube, it's impossible to see whether or not any product is actually going into her hands.

Millie, do you think we don’t have eyes? What's the end game here? Are you actually a secret La Mer user who would never stoop to lesser products? Whatever you’re using, just tell us your secret.
