This Filipina's Violin Rendition of 'Bahay Kubo' Will Blow You Away
Who knew the Filipino folksong "Bahay Kubo" could sound so beautiful? That’s what Marian Mayuga proved when she masterfully delivered an at-home recital of the piece, which is a composition of highly respected Filipino violinist Gilopez Kabayao. Mayuga started by playing the classic rendition of the folksong, then slowly built up the dynamics by employing various techniques.
Kabayao's arrangement of the folksong is impressive—he threw every technique in the song from chords, trails, pizzicato, staccato, all while staying faithful to the song’s classic melody.
