You Can Now Create and Share Your Own Rap With Facebook's New App
Picture this: You're an aspiring rapper that has neither the time nor resources to produce and release a track. What's the next best thing? You might say uploading a video on YouTube, but with thousands of videos uploaded each day on the platform, it's probably going to go unnoticed. Luckily, Facebook's got your back.
In an announcement that no one saw coming, Facebook is testing a new app called BARS that lets you create and share your own rap, TikTok-style. How it works is that users can record 60-second clips rapping and freestyling over beats. Naturally, the description for BARS on the Apple App Store promotes the app with a rap verse.
When you wanna come through with a rhyme,
And you don’t have a way to get studio time,
Then join BARS,
And show the world your rapping style,
Check out the app and download now
It doesn't stop there. The app will reportedly have studio-quality vocal effects. Yes, that means AutoTune. More helpful features? The app has an auto-rhyme dictionary for beginners. Meanwhile, advanced rappers can completely freestyle by using eight random words, provided by the app, in a 16-bar, off-the-cuff rap.
BARS is currently in closed beta, but you can already sign up with your username for when it goes live. In fact, the app already has early reviews from rappers that were invited through Instagram. "It’s easy to use, it’s extremely fun, you improve on rapping, it’s entertaining to see others," one review says.
