Slow Internet service has always been the bane of Filipinos’ online existence. For gamers, this is measured in terms of ping, or the speed at which you get a response after you send out a request. It is measured in milliseconds, usually seen as ms in gaming platforms. Nationwide ping could significantly improve with the aggressive infrastructure plan of the country's newest telecommunications service provider.

Dito Telecommunity, the country’s third telco, promises faster and more affordable Internet services, and the only way to do that is to heavily invest in infrastructure such as cell sites, common towers, and rooftop towers.

Currently, the Philippines has 17,850 cell sites catering to more than 67 million Internet users, which is one of the highest ratios of cell sites to Internet users in Asia, resulting in very slow Internet service. Dito plans to add up to 10,000 cell sites within the next seven years.

The third telco has partnered with Leo Technologies Infrastructure Corporation and Alt-Global-Solutions, Inc. for the faster roll-out of its infrastructure plans.

“Dito is very well on its way to provide faster, more affordable, and secure telecom services,” said Adel Tamano, chief administrative officer of Dito.

Dito Telecommunity Corporation, formerly known as Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company, Inc. (Mislatel) became the third major telecommunications provider in the Philippines after it was awarded a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity by the National Telecommunications Commission in 2019.
