Decathlon Assures Staff Is 100% COVID-19 Free
A fuller picture is now emerging from a recent COVID-19 case scare involving a branch of Decathlon Philippines.
In a statement emailed to SPIN Life and posted on their social media accounts, the sports retailer clarified the events that led to the temporary closing of Decathlon Alabang.
According to the brand, it was brought to their attention yesterday that “a person with COVID-19 may have entered in[to] contact with our team seven days ago.” However, this person was not inside any branch yesterday, claimed Decathlon Philippines.
As the incubation period of the SARS-CoV-2 virus can reach up to 14 days, Decathlon Philippines took the precautionary step of closing the Alabang branch and testing all their personnel.
This includes what they call “external teammates”, such as maintenance and security staff.
Yesterday, June 17, the brand also took the additional step of testing its entire workforce, including employees at Decathlon Pasig and Masinag.
“We are happy to share that 100% of the team tested negative,” it said in an email to SPIN Life.
“Transparency is an essential part of our values as a brand,” declared Decathlon Philippines in its emailed statement, “and as the sportive best friend of every Filipino, we know that informing the public was the right thing to do.”
Decathlon Alabang is expected to reopen at today, June 18. "We are confident that with our strong focus, commitment, and actions towards safety and security, Decathlon Alabang will be back in its best and safest form," it continued.
