This Filipino Is Leading A Team Researching Mass Testing Methods For COVID-19 In Switzerland
In the past few months, we've seen several people exert efforts and help in the fight against COVID-19. Filipinos celebrities have raised funds, Filipinos flight attendants have donated healthcare essentials to those in need, and of course, there are the Filipino medical frontliners who work tirelessly each day to help us get through this health crisis.
Another Filipino abroad is also contributing in her own way during this pandemic. Meet Catharine Aquino-Fournier, a scientist who is leading the development of HiDRA-seq, a COVID-19 mass testing technology in Switzerland. HiDRA-seq detects the novel coronavirus using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), a state-of-the-art DNA sequencing technology. At the Functional Genomic Center where Catharine works, she is currently leading the DNA sequencing team.
Watch the video below to know more about what Catharine's work has been like.
