Carlos Yulo Captures Gold Medal at Gymnastics World Championship

It's a historic moment!

CARLOS Edriel ‘Caloy’ Yulo won a historic gold medal in the men’s floor of the 49th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany.

Yulo garnered a score of 15.300 in his floor apparatus final, his pet event among all the gymnastics events, in a huge follow-up to his bronze win in the same competition last year in Doha, Qatar.

The feat made him the first Filipino to win a gold at a world gymnastics event.

Artem Dolgopyat of Israel placed second with a score of 15.200, while Xiao Ruteng of China took third with a score of 14.933.

The 19-year-old Yulo continued his big week after he became the second Filipino to qualify in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, following the feat made by pole vaulter EJ Obiena.

Yulo also had a decent finish in the all-around when he placed 10th in the competition.
