Twitter is Cringing Hard at Cayetano's SEA Games Closing Speech
What a fitting way to end the 30th Southeast Asian Games. Well, except for that really long speech from House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) Chairman, who came under fire as the events began over the alleged mismanagement of the more than P7 billion budget for the SEA Games hosting, addressed the crowd and other participating countries at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac on Wednesday night.
Netizens didn't appreciate how Cayetano delivered his closing remarks in Filipino and made it more about politics, painful cliches, and his wife. At least he thanked the athletes and touched upon the biennial multi-sports event.
If there was a saving grace for the SEA Games closing ceremony, it was the dazzling drone show and fireworks display that lit up the night sky in New Clark City. Journey frontman Arnel Pineda and the Black Eyed Peas also gave the audience something worth remembering.
The American hip hop group brought the party with a rousing set of "Let's Get It Started," "Boom Boom Pow," "RITMO (Bad Boys For Life)," "Pump It," "Just Can't Get Enough," "Bebot," "The APL Song," "The Time," and "Where Is The Love?" The newest member of the group, Filipina singer Jessica Reynoso, who also goes by the name J Reysoul, filled in the Fergie parts of the group's hit parade.
