It's a little bit too early to think of traveling right now, but that isn't stopping a number of countries from starting to welcome international visitors.

Italy, Iceland, Greece, Portugal, Belize, Spain, and Cyprus have taken the lead by reopening their borders to welcome tourists back. Along with the reopening of these destinations, flights are also looking to resume in many parts of the world as early as mid-June.

The countries' reopening was a carefully made decision. Early last week, 11 European Union states announced that it will be implementing guiding principles and a set of rules. "We call on tourism businesses and related private actors to use the coming weeks to take appropriate precautionary measures to protect travelers once freedom of movement and traveling is restored. We believe this is a crucial element to rebuild public trust in the safety of traveling," the ministers said in a joint statement.

"Even though currently the situation concerning the corona pandemic continues to differ from country to country, it is our common goal to coordinate our approach among European partners as closely as possible with a view to restoring freedom of movement and safe traveling in the near future," it said.

Before you go and book your ticket, however, you have to keep in mind that every country's rules are different. The Philippines, for one, has announced that returning travelers must take the COVID-19 reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test and sequester themselves in a hotel of their choice for a few days.
