When it comes to natural wonders, the Philippines has some of the best in the world: the best island, the top diving destination, and highly recommended tourist spots. So it doesn't come as a surprise that we made it to TripAdvisor's Travelers' Choice Best of the Best for 2020, specifically Luzon and Cebu for the list of Trending Destinations.

TripAdvisor is one of the go-to platforms when it comes to booking accommodations, tours, and restaurants even when you're halfway across the world. It's also known for its user-generated content—specifically reviews and ratings, which are annually collated to produce the yearly Travelers' Choice Best of the Best lists.

For the category on Trending Destinations, the whole island of Luzon ranked second, just after Kochi in China. According to TripAdvisor, “Travelers are flocking to the island of Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines, to experience one of the more unique locations in the world. Yes, this is where the dynamic capital city of Manila is located, but more than that it’s home to some of the most exquisite natural landscapes and biodiversity on the planet—from vast mountains and dense rainforests to endless beaches and coral reefs.”

Coming it at number 24 is Cebu in the Visayas, which—according to TripAdvisor—is “easy to see [as] one of the top destinations.” It boasts the “cosmopolitan metropolis of Cebu City,” “white-sand beaches of Mactan,” “electric-blue waters of Kawasan Falls, and “whale sharks of Oslob.”

Luzon beat destinations in Portugal, Brazil, Vietnam, Israel, Poland, and Peru among others; while Moscow took the 25th slot.
