Christmas is just around the corner, and many people are looking for ways on how to earn extra income for the holidays. Let’s face it, your 13th-month pay is not nearly enough to cover your expenses, and you really don’t want to spend more than what you can afford.

Many people think that making an extra buck will take a toll on their day job. In some cases, yes, it happens, but that shouldn’t always be the case. Here are three ways you can earn extra income, as much as P20,000, without compromising your regular job.

Freelancing is one of the fastest ways to earn extra cash without having to leave corporate work. There are hundreds of sites out there that are looking for freelancers. In fact, on Facebook alone, you will find groups looking for jobseekers.

There are numerous ways you can freelance. Freelancing jobs are not just limited to Facebook groups and online job platforms, you can also look for freelancing jobs through local businesses. There are three freelancing jobs that will help you earn as much as P20,000 a month, even when you keep your day job.

Freelancing Skill No. 1: Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing is one of the faster ways of how to earn extra income online. Many brick and mortar businesses find it hard to cope with fast changes happening in society, particularly with the dominance of social media and how it is transforming the market. In order for these businesses to survive, they need to evolve and adapt to the demands of the digital age.

Many of these businesses are owned by the Baby Boomers, who are also the wealthiest generation today. Unfortunately, many of these business owners still find it hard to take advantage of social media in growing their businesses. You can look for local coffee shops, boutiques, and restaurants that still need to improve their presence and visibility online.

These businesses need more customers, and one of the fastest ways to gain customers is through social media marketing. At present, a social media marketing consultant can earn as much as P20,000 a month per client.

Freelancing Skill No. 2: Setting Up E-Commerce Sites

One of the key takeaways at the Facebook Philippines seminar, in which I gave a talk, was that more and more Filipinos do their transactions on their phones. Businesses need to recognize the fact that the younger generation is migrating toward electronic shopping.

As a freelancer, you can help businesses set up their e-commerce sites and messenger accounts. The Messenger platform is now e-commerce ready. Every day, millions of pesos’ worth of transactions happen on the platform. At present, the cost of setting up these sites is P40,000, and the cost of maintaining and monitoring them is P20,000.

Freelancing Skill No. 3: Content Creation

Content creation is a solid strategy on how to earn extra income regularly. A business cannot survive with the “build it and they will come” mindset in today’s world. Attention has become one of the most expensive currencies in the digital age. The moment you lose the interest of your customers is the moment your competition grabs them.

The best way to keep your customers’ interest is by consistently creating relevant content for them. Many business owners don’t have the luxury of time to create posts for their social media accounts and websites, that’s why they outsource these to freelancers.

If you can spend at least an extra three hours a day creating genuine and helpful content for these sites, you can easily earn as much as P20,000 a month.

More Advice on How to Earn Extra Income

There are many ways to earn extra income apart from freelancing using the three skills mentioned above. You are not limited to these ideas. You have the information at your fingertips: Google it, watch YouTube tutorials, buy courses to learn faster. Whatever it is, the point is, all you have to do is just start. Make yourself a cool P20,000 per month without even having to ask for a raise.
