It's been a historic few weeks for everyman style. We dig an outlandishly dressed celebrity as much the next publication, but hunkered down at home in the same sweatpants we've been wearing for the last six months straight, there's something comfortingly reassuring about seeing a famous face doing the absolute right amount when forced to venture outside. (Stars—they're just like us!)

First, there was Bradley Cooper dropping his kid off at school in peak dad chic, looking for all the world like he woke up, groggily threw on whatever was most readily on-hand, and then hurriedly whisked his daughter out the door. (There was also Bradley Cooper in flannel and Bradley Cooper in sold-out Gucci—y'know, for variety's sake. There was a lot of Bradley Cooper.)

So today, we're thrilled to add to the annals of approachable celebrity style the outfit of one Regé-Jean Page, the British actor who skyrocketed to fame after a star-making turn in Bridgerton, the Shonda Rhimes-produced Netflix sensation. In Soho yesterday, the actor stepped out in a pared-down fit a far cry from the 19th century foppery viewers around the world are used to seeing him in. But after so much time spent in Regency-era costume, it's only natural that the dude would want to relax when it comes to getting dressed.

And relaxed he looks, though not at the expense of his personal style. As Page illustrates, when in doubt, it's always a wise bet to stick with what you know works. There are no grand statements here, no bold visual proclamations emphatically declaring a new way for men to dress going forward. There's just a really good shawl-collar cardigan, some slim black jeans, and a clean pair of low-top sneakers.

In other words, a few basic sartorial building blocks every dude should already have in his wardrobe. And if you're confused about how to dress after so many months on lockdown (or straight terrified by the prospect of wearing actual pants out in the real world again) an outfit like Page's is as solid a place as any to start.
