Modified Coding Scheme Begins Monday
Remember the modified number coding scheme proposed by the Metro Manila Council (MMC) just a week back? Well, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced that it will start implementing the said scheme starting Monday, June 8, 2020.
This announcement comes as no surprise given that MMDA general manager Jojo Garcia already clarified in his previous statement that the agency was aiming to implement the rule starting on that date. You can check out the MMDA’s official announcement below:
Under this new coding scheme, owner- or self-driven private vehicles of doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel are exempted. All authorized persons outside residence (APOR) will also be exempted. For the full list of APORs, click here.
In addition, private vehicles with two or more passengers (including the driver) will be allowed passage, provided that physical distancing is observed within the vehicles and all passengers are wearing protective face masks. You can read more on the transport guidelines for private vehicles here.
So, there you have it. If you’re now driving out regularly during this general community quarantine period, then take note.
